Skaldify Journal: A prototype should make the next question clearer
19. October 2026
There is a useful moment in a new software project before code becomes a product: the moment when a rough interface makes the next question easier to ask.
Skaldify has reached that moment with a new workshop-style concept preview for an ERP direction. It is deliberately small and deliberately fictional. A calm workspace shows a route from quotation to invoice, and a visible switch between demo companies makes the information architecture discussable without pretending that the underlying system already exists.
A prototype is a question, not a claim
A clickable preview can be valuable precisely because it does not carry production promises. It does not process real documents, protect customer data, separate tenants, or synchronise work. It is not an accounting system. It is a shared surface for asking whether the sequence feels right: What belongs together? What should stay close at hand? Which step needs more attention before anything is built around it?
That distinction matters. A polished-looking screen can create false certainty if it is presented as a finished capability. Skaldify treats this early version as a workshop table: useful for sorting, moving, and questioning ideas, but not yet a place for real operational work.
Start from the work, not from an inherited shape
Sometimes the clearest way forward is not another adjustment to an old frame. A fresh concept can keep the lessons while letting the workflow lead. In this case, the preview focuses on a practical thread from offer to invoice and on the questions that need an answer before implementation: priorities, roles, documents, and the moments where a handover must be unmistakable.
The next step is feedback on that sequence. A prototype earns its place when it helps turn a vague wish into a specific decision. The real application, its data model, and its safeguards come later—only after the work itself has a clearer shape.
Skaldify Journal documents work in progress. This concept preview is not a production release, an accounting service, or evidence of completed security, privacy, synchronisation, or tenant separation.
